Ochopee Post Office

After the Ochopee post office burned down in 1953, a tomato farm irrigation pipe shed was quickly transformed into a post office. This tiny post office has served the tiny everglades town of Ochopee ever since.

Octagon Wildlife Sanctuary

The Octagon Wildlife Sanctuary in Punta Gorda, Florida, has rescued and cared for over 1000 animals over the past 30 years. The sanctuary is not a zoo but is open to the public on weekends and by appointment.  They depend on donations and admission fees to care for the animals.

We especially enjoyed the opportunity to get up close with the big cats.

Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse

Climbing the 203 steps to the top

The Ponce De Leon Inlet Lighthouse served as a navigational beacon from 1887 to 1970. It has since been restored and is open for public tours.

We came. We saw. We climbed.
